The City Of West Covina To Hold Community Outreach Meeting For Selection Of New Chief Of Police

On Tuesday, April 25, the City of West Covina will hold a special meeting to solicit input from residents and businesses regarding the recruitment of a new Chief of Police. The current Chief, David Faulkner, will be retiring later this year. The meeting provides a rare opportunity to participate in the process of selecting a new Chief who will honor and uphold the Second Amendment rights of West Covina residents.

Last September, Councilman Mike Spence introduced a resolution that defined “good cause” for the issuance of a CCW permit as the “need or desire to defend one’s family, business or self,” and directed Chief Faulkner to issue permits accordingly. That resolution was later adopted on a 3-2 vote. But because the resolution was not legally binding, Chief Faulkner completely ignored the City Council’s decision, and to this day refuses to issue CCW permits to law-abiding West Covina residents.

But now that he is retiring, law-abiding gun owners have a chance to make their voices heard and demand the City respect the rights of residents by hiring a new Chief who respects the Constitution. We urge all of our members who are able to attend Tuesday’s meeting and participate in the discussion.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 P.M. in the Cameron Park Community Center, located at 1305 E. Cameron Avenue, West Covina, CA 91790.
