Stand with CA Law Enforcement

April 2, 2018

Under current California law, concealed carry licenses can only be issued for two years at a time. With the current system, countless amounts of money and staff time are used every year in processing concealed carry license renewals.

If passed, AB 1931 will give sheriffs the ability to extend licenses to a maximum of 5 years; meaning that California’s permit system will be brought into step with much of the rest of the country. Additionally, by extending the permits to five years, our law enforcement agencies will save money and resources that can be better applied towards ensuring the safety of our communities. Sponsored by California’s sheriffs, this bill is a fantastic step in the right direction when it comes to concealed carry in this state.

CRPA stands with California’s Sheriffs as well as Assemblyman Fong for their dedication to improving our state’s concealed carry licensing laws and to saving our state’s law enforcement agencies valuable resources. Contact the members of the Assembly Public Safety Committee today and tell them to support AB 1931!
