The decades-long battle over CCW rights in California ranges from the frustrating to the outright absurd. The state, and many other jurisdictions, try every word game and legal sleight of hand they can think of to chip away at what should be one of our most fundamental rights.
In the case of Baird v. Bonta, law-abiding gun owner Mark Baird stood up to challenge the state’s ban on open carry in “counties with a population greater than 200,000”. Sound arbitrary? Not really. That includes roughly 95% of the state’s population!
