CA Legislature Favors Criminals Over Law Abiding Gun Owners

Today, Assembly Appropriations passed SB 620 out of committee for a vote by the full chamber. SB 620 (Bradford) aims to reduce the punishment for criminals who use firearms while committing a crime. If passed, SB 620 will allow a court to dismiss the additional prison time currently mandated for gun crimes. This is an insult to all law-abiding California gun owners; while the legislature sees fit to burden legal firearms owners with increasingly strict regulations in the name of “reducing crime”, they are attempting to make life easier for the criminals who actually use firearms to commit crimes!

Despite passing out of committee, some assemblymen did vote to enforce the current penalties for legitimate gun criminals. Democratic Assemblyman Muratsuchi crossed party lines to stand with Republican Assembly Members, Bigelow, Fong, Gallagher, and Obernolte to vote against SB 620.

The hypocrisy of SB 620 cannot go unanswered. The CRPA is doing everything we can to fight this outrageous bill, but we need your help.
