HUGE WIN! Suppressors Removed From NFA!

By now, most of you have probably heard that the House narrowly approved their version of the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” early Thursday morning. This comprehensive budget reconciliation package includes a pivotal provision that eliminates the federal registration requirement for firearm suppressors.
Passed by a slim margin of 215–214, the legislation is a huge victory, freeing suppressors from the stringent regulations imposed by the National Firearms Act (NFA) of 1934. Currently, acquiring a suppressor necessitates a $200 tax, extensive paperwork, and a waiting period that can extend up to a year. Should this provision secure passage in the Senate, the President is expected to sign the overall package, securing this win.
CRPA allies, such as the NRA, Gun Owners of America, Gun Owners of California, and the Second Amendment Foundation lauded the move, which is part of a broader legislative push, including the Silencers Helping Us Save Hearing (SHUSH) Act and the Hearing Protection Act, both designed to simplify suppressor regulations and enhance hearing protection for lawful firearm users.
Here in California, however, the state’s ban on suppressors remains in place. CRPA’s challenge to that ban, Sanchez v. Bonta, remains critical to removing that ban as, unfortunately, the movements on the federal level will NOT repeal it.
