Every year it’s the same process. The first few months of the session, policy committees debate the merits of bills. What would it do? How would it work? And on and on.
Then the rubber hits the road: What will it cost? That’s where the Appropriations Committees in each house take center stage. Just about every bill ends up on what’s known as the “Suspense File” in one of the Appropriations Committees as the powers that be negotiate what will be moving forward.
On the latest installment of CRPA TV, Legislative Director Rick Travis is back to lead us through how this process will impact bills CRPA is closely monitoring. Some we like, some we’re fighting hard to kill. The outcomes of this largely secretive process will determine where we need to apply our efforts the rest of the summer.
