The Battle Is On

April 27, 2016

Greetings,

As your new CRPA Legislative Liaison, I am very proud to be taking up this battle and representing the California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA) at the capital.  I would have thought 32 years in law enforcement would have prepared me; but, I was naïve and had no idea how convoluted things are!

We have an unprecedented battle to fight this year at the capital to preserve and protect our 2nd Amendment rights, and oppose laws that infringe on them.  CRPA is in formal opposition to over 13 Senate and Assembly bills that stand to greatly diminish our rights The good news is by working closely with our allies, united we have been able to defeat three bills in subcommittee already; but, we have much more work ahead of us.

The first and biggest threat we face this year is the Newsom initiative. If passed by voters, the initiative would:

  1. Force you to surrender your legally purchased magazines to the government, or face police coming to your home to confiscate them.
  2. Cause the price of ammunition to skyrocket and create red tape and long lines just to buy a box of ammunition.
  3. Turn millions of laws abiding Californians into accidental criminals.
  4. Force you to register your ammunition purchases in an expensive ammunition buyer database, ban Internet and out of state purchase of ammunition and impose high licensing fees on ammunition buyers and sellers.

Stand with us, and with law enforcement, fighting against this ill-fated ballot initiative.  Do not sign any petition to put this initiative on the ballot, and vote against it if it makes it! As your representative in Sacramento, I am working with our team to make sure that elected officials know how damaging this kind of ill-conceived anti-2A initiative is.

CRPA is also on the forefront to protect hunter’s rights by attending Fish and Game Commission meetings, Wildlife Resource Committee meetings, and meetings with state officials who share our passion to protect and enhance our wonderful hunting heritage. Our candidate grading alert will be coming out soon to help CRPA members know where candidates stand on 2A and hunting issues. Be on the lookout for this helpful information.

Your CRPA membership and continued donations to CRPA are critical to our success. Register to vote, vote on Election Day, and get others to vote, too!  Contact your legislators and urge them to oppose assaults on your Second Amendment rights!  Volunteer! Get Involved! We need you to join us in this battle.

Thank you for your support and please donate today!
