Despite Political Attacks, the Fight for the Second Amendment Continues

August 6, 2020

Gun owner-hating Attorneys General Letitia James (New York) and Karl Racine (District of Columbia) attacked the NRA today with lawsuits as they try to remove NRA’s influence and advocacy for safety, freedom, and self-reliance from the political playing field.

CRPA condemns the obvious political timing of this effort to silence the nation’s strongest and most effective voice for the Second Amendment just ahead of the November elections.

CRPA has been fighting for your rights for 145 years. Gun owners — especially in California — should know that CRPA stands in solidarity with the NRA’s five million members and supports NRA’s ongoing mission to fight for the Second Amendment.

CRPA will continue to fight for those rights in California, even as the NRA’s financial resources have been drastically limited. CRPA has stepped in to save a dozen Second Amendment lawsuits in California, as well as multiple California shooting, conservation, and safety programs.

Changes to NRA’s financial practices are necessary. For the benefit of the NRA and its members, financial, operational, and accounting transparency must be the norm. Without these changes, the fight for the right to choose to own a gun for sport or to defend one’s family is vulnerable to opportunistic anti-gun political attacks like this in the future.
