Legislative Alert: Two Pro Hunting Bills Move Forward

April 10, 2018

Two pro-hunting bills move forward. Today CRPA has scored a major legislative victory in the fight for hunting in our state.

Both AB 2670 (Kiley, R) and 2805 (Bigelow, R) passed out of the Assembly Committee on Water Parks and Wildlife. Each of these bills is an excellent step toward ensuring affordable hunting and common sense hunting practices.

Both of these bills will help to sustain the revitalization of hunting in our state. By making hunting more affordable for all Californians, these bills will remove a major barrier to entry for the average citizen.

Currently, the dept of fish and wildlife has yet to institute a free hunting day for California residents. AB 2670 aims to mandate the implementation of this free hunting day, guaranteeing an affordable option for California hunters of all backgrounds.

Under current law, a wild pig tag or depredation permit is required to hunt these pigs. By changing the status of a wild pig to an “exotic game mammal”, AB 2805 will streamline the process to harvest these invasive animals. By moving from a tag to a stamp, AB 2805 will make pig hunting more affordable to all Californians.

We would like to thank our members for their support. You are a vital part of our efforts to revitalize hunting in California.
