Ventura County Board Meeting: No decision has been made

September 25, 2018

Anti-gun groups are at it again; feeding false and misleading statistics to the Ventura Fair Board in an effort to stop lawful gun shows.

In a packed room of mostly pro-gun show supporters, the Board heard testimony on why they should or should not continue to approve contracts for the Ventura Gun Show.

Some board members called for an immediate moratorium on gun shows going forward even though the Board has already voted to approve the remaining 2018 shows. Reason won the day on that topic, however, in that Board members were uncertain if breaching the already approved contracts would subject them to legal issues.

The Board did develop an ad hoc committee of two members (which means there is no public notice of meetings required for the committee) to review questions from the Board and the community regarding the safety and security of the gun shows. This is sure to be on the October agenda for the Board to consider what the committee will present.

The Ventura Crossroads Gun Show has been a staple in Ventura for more than 10 years and is a safe and family-friendly event. Thank you to all the supporters who came out today to speak for the gun show and stand for your rights. Please stay tuned for more information on how you can attend future meetings to support the show.
