This Is Not Common Sense: Stop AB 3
The legislature is once again using dirty gut and amend tactics to attack our constitutional rights.
AB 3 (Bonta, D), which was originally meant to address repeat offenders and help reduce recidivism, now aims to increase the age to purchase a firearm from 18 to 21. Though it is touted as “common sense” gun legislation, this ludicrous bill is a direct infringement of the rights of all California adults under the age of 21.
At age 18, Californians are deemed old enough to vote and serve in the military. If a young adult is old enough to put their life on the line for their country, aren’t they old enough to purchase a firearm? If someone is old enough to be handed a rifle and sent to fight in our armed forces, how can you deny them their constitutional right to bear arms at home?
Additionally, these legislators are stripping away the rights of some of the very constituents who voted for them!
This bill will strip away the rights of legal adults in our state. Young hunters will face a major barrier to harvest game and participate in our state’s conservation efforts. Young parents will be unable to access the basic tools to defend their children in the home, robbing them of their right to self-defense.
This bill is not common sense; it is a direct attack on the right to keep and bear arms in our state. AB 3 will only serve to disarm our heroic soldiers, young hunters, and parents. Do not let our opponents get away with these dirty tactics. Contact the members of the Senate Committee on Public Safety and tell them to vote no on AB 3. Thank you for your support.
