The Assault on Our Rights Continues

June 18, 2018

Sacramento politicians are gunning for your Constitutional rights. Between the Senate and the Assembly, three major anti-gun bills will be heard in the respective Public Safety Committees this week. If passed, these bills will negatively affect nearly all aspects of the 2nd Amendment in California.

Even worse, two of the most anti-gun politicians, Assemblyman Reggie-Jones Sawyer and Senator Nancy Skinner, chair the committees where the bills will be heard.

Two of the bills, AB 3 and SB 1100, aim to strip the right to keep and bear arms from California’s young adults by raising the age to purchase a firearm to 21. Despite the fact that this will do nothing to make Californians safer, Jones-Sawyer and Skinner will advocate hard for the passage of this measure. It is obvious that to them, public safety means disarming the young men and women of this state.

The next bill, SB 221, will put an end to the gun show in Daly City. SB 221 will eliminate the only gun show in the San Francisco area and is part of a wider movement to shut down gun shows throughout the state. While the bill’s proponents say that banning the gun show will make our communities safer, they fail to realize that they will also be removing a vital source of training and safety resources. If passed, SB 221 will set a dangerous precedent; it will effectively allow lawmakers to legislate gun shows out of existence.

This is an all-out assault on our rights and we need your help to stop it. We need you to contact the members of the Senate and Assembly public safety committees and urge them to vote against these bills!
