Don’t Let The Legislature Chip Away At Our Rights

June 25, 2018

On Tuesday, June 26th, three anti-2ndAmendment bills will be heard in the legislature. If passed into law, these bills will significantly restrict your ability to purchase firearms, common gun parts, as well as deprive hunters of the right to harvest game overseas.

One Gun a Month

Senator Anthony Portantino’s (D)SB 1177 aims to resurrect the failed one long-gun per month pipe-dream. Despite the fact that this exact bill has failed to pass twice already, Senator Portantino has pushed forward with this particular bill. He may think the third time will be the charm, but if an anti-gun bill fails to pass twice in California, you know it’s a bad piece of legislation!

Though this bill is complete garbage, it is likely to pass the Assembly Public Safety committee, courtesy of the zealously anti-Constitution chairman, Reggie Jones-Sawyer.

We have said it before, and we will say it again, Assemblyman Reggie Jones-Sawyer is the single greatest threat to our 2ndAmendment rights in the legislature. Under his chairmanship, every pro-gun bill referred to his committee is voted down, and every anti-gun bill is passed. Forget Newsom and Brown, Reggie is the real public enemy number 1.

Contact the Assembly Public Safety Committee members today and urge them to vote no on SB 1177.

No Buying Gun Parts Online

As if that wasn’t bad enough, there is another bill attempting to severely regulate the sale of firearm precursor parts. AB 2382 (Gipson, D), will eliminate the ability to buy certain gun parts online and will regulate the sale of common parts like barrels, 80% lowers and specified trigger assemblies. Just like the current ammo regulations, this measure is another misguided attempt to improve public safety; it is doomed to fail.

With your help, we can stop this terrible bill! AB 2382 will be heard in the Senate Public Safety Committee. Contact the committee members today and urge them to vote no on AB 2382.

Ban on African Hunting

Our lawmakers can’t come to terms with the fact that governing California does not entitle them to govern the whole world.

SB 1487 (Stern, D) will ban Californian’s from processing animals legally harvested in African Nations. This will dramatically curtail the rights of California hunter/conservationists. This bill is in direct conflict with existing federal law! Hunting and processing African animals is completely legal, but because we are California, our lawmakers act in complete defiance of the federal government. They must not have paid attention in high school civics because last we checked, federal law trumps state law.

In addition to defying federal law, this bill will place an unfunded mandate on California’s Game Wardens. This additional burden will detract from their ability to protect our own native wildlife.

Help stop this bad bill today by calling the members of the Assembly Water Parks & Wildlife Committee and telling them to vote no on SB 1497.
