CRPA’s Statement on Justice Kennedy’s Retirement

Justice Kennedy’s retirement is a game-changer for Second Amendment litigation nationally, and particularly for California gun owners. California’s ill-conceived and outrageous restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms trample on the constitutional rights of those who chose to own a gun for sport or to defend their families. The California Rifle & Pistol Association has several Second Amendment lawsuits already ongoing in the courts, and several more lawsuits are in the works –any of which could end up at Supreme Court. By having a more pro-Second Amendment Supreme Court, we have the opportunity to strike back against Gavin Newsom and his elitist cronies who want to make it practically impossible to choose to own a gun.
