CRPA Fights Back Against Big Brother

June 17, 2025

Absurd over-reach by the California Legislature is nothing new, but Senate Bill 1384—now law in the state—forces every Federal Firearms Licensee (even those operating from their own homes) to install 24/7 audio-visual surveillance. CRPA and Michel & Associates are challenging this unconstitutional law in the Ninth Circuit under Richards v. Newsom.

In the latest installment of CRPA TV, host Kevin Small sits down with Anna Barvir, the attorney who authored the Ninth Circuit brief, to break down the case and what’s at stake. From violations of the First, Fourth, and Fifth Amendments, to the chilling effect on political speech, this lawsuit is about more than just FFLs—it’s about pushing back against unchecked state overreach.

As envisioned by this bill, and explained by Anna in the video, this law forces FFL’s to fund the government’s attempt to implement illegal surveillance of their own lawful businesses. As mentioned, this would even include homes!

The intended impact of this law (and so many others) is clear: the complete eradication of lawful gun sellers and, by extension, the continued degradation of gun rights.
