Call to Action: Costa Mesa Gun Show Under Attack

May 21, 2018

On Thursday, May 24th, the Orange County Fair and Expo Center Board of Directors will meet to discuss the future of gun shows at the Fairgrounds. Throughout 2018, gun control activists, emboldened by marches and calls for change, have taken aim at California gun shows across the state. The gun banners will attempt to use this meeting to outlaw gun shows at the Orange County Fairgrounds.

Anti-gun advocates claim that gun shows breed violence and spread gun culture, endangering the lives of our community members and our children. They couldn’t be more wrong!

The Costa Mesa Gun Show has a perfect record of complying with California’s firearm laws and has no records of violent incidents. With a record like that how can anti-gun activists claim that gun shows are a danger to our community?

Additionally, the Costa Mesa shows often serve as a venue for firearms safety classes and training, as well as a great source of educational material. Moreover, gun shows are a safe and family friendly environment where kids can be introduced to shooting sports with the proper safety and supervision.

Gun shows, and their attendees, are not dangerous. As many of you know, gun owners are among the most law-abiding people in our state. The vast majority of legal gun owners routinely train with their weapons and proudly support safe gun ownership.

We must stand up for the Costa Mesa Show! Come to the board meeting this Thursday, May 24th, at 9am, to show your support! What happens here will set the precedent for other County Fair Boards; By standing up at the board meeting in support of the show, you can help protect California gun shows for many years to come.
