Women On Target Event After Action Report
By Jacob Rascon, CRPA Board Member and C3 Regional Director (So Cal)
On March 24, 2012, several organizations came together to host the NRA MC Women On Target Shoot at the Burro Canyon Shooting range in Azusa, California. It was a huge success! Thank You for the Calguns C3 support, your belief and commitment to this effort made this a 100% success. A few things I would like to highlight:
- 95 Women Shooters.
- 50% first-time shooters.
- Many women signed up to be CRPA members.
- 26 Instructors from the CRPA, NRA MC, and Appleseed.
- 12 CRPA Instructors in the first 4 hours of my request for help.
- 14 volunteers from Calguns, CRPA, NRA MC, Turners.
- Calguns C3 volunteers provided planning and workforce for all the logistics.
- CRPA President and Executive Director attended.
- NRA Liaison provided direction and support.
- Appleseed volunteer instructors supported.
- Turner’s, Outdoorsman working with Ruger supplied 50 22/45 pistols, ammunition, and volunteers.
- 45 pistol being bought by first-time shooters through Turners.
- 100% safety.
- 56 shooters arrived in the afternoon and we adjusted successfully for the overflow.
- SOLD Out in hours.
- Burro Canyon Shooting Park providing us several ranges and cutting their rates
in half!
We ran two sessions on Saturday, we scheduled 50 students per session across two range lanes that were side by side. We had a classroom area set up for instruction, two magazine loading benches, breakfast and lunch tables, and booths for each organization, shirts, hats, eyes, and ears and other equipment for the students. Twenty thousand rounds of ammunition were fired. This was an incredible event.
Special Thanks To:
- Calguns Community Chapters (C3) Leaders and Coordinators: Andrew Mendez, Ricky-Ray and wife, Fastfinger, Howie44, Roundeye, Dark Paladin and SeanCasey.
- Appleseed Shoot Boss Instructors.
- NRA MC Instructors and volunteers.
- CRPA President Tony Montanarella and Executive Director John Fields.
- NRA liaison and lead instructor.
- Add 95 to the win column, everyone!
