CRPA Special Alert: Department of Interior Defends Your Constitutional Rights

March 29, 2019

US Department of Interior puts San Diego Board of Supervisors in their place!

The Board of Supervisors sought to restrict recreational shooting on federal lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management in previous months. Sheriff Gore and the San Diego Board of Supervisor & County Council faced quite a bit of opposition. With a letter from the Department of Interior, this ban on recreational shooting is getting the reply it deserves.

Many 2nd Amendment groups in San Diego attended meetings of the San Diego Board of Supervisors to stop the ban of public shooting in Pink Gate & Dulzura recreational areas.

Even with such opposition from CRPA and other groups reminding them that this was not constitutional, the San Diego Board of Supervisors adopted the ordinance the recreational shooting ban, ignoring the voice of Californians.

San Diego Wildlife Federation, San Diego County Gun Owners PAC, South Bay Rod and Gun Club, San Diego Must and countless individuals weighed in. Their efforts are commendable, and we thank them for representing so many in this fight.

The CRPA & NRA using the Local Advocacy Program, have worked together to stop this ban across the board, locally and federally. Specifically, CRPA & NRA teams met with staff from the White House, Department of Interior and Bureau of Land Management. In doing so, we obtained the letters this morning from the Department of Interior to the San Diego County Board of Supervisors and the San Diego County Counsel, advising them that their ordinance was unconstitutional.

While these letters further represent the work to protect your rights enumerated in the constitution, they also represent the intentions of local government to hinder such rights. This is not the end of the fight. There will be ongoing discussions and we will be present, making sure that the constitution and protections guaranteed by it, will be first and foremost.

This fight is not limited to San Diego. This fight is statewide, and we need you to let us know as soon as possible when any action is being discussed, considered or taken place by the government on any level to infringe on your 2A rights. Call our office at the number below and we will fight to stop and/ or restore those rights.
