Pro-2A CRPA Candidates Win in California

When we fight together, we win.

CRPA extends its congratulations to 15 pro-2A candidates rated favorably for the U.S. Congress, the California State Legislature, and a highly visible local election who have been declared winners in their respective races.

Each of these winners has been rated by CRPA and Gun Owners of California, and many of our members have helped on their own time to secure their victory – translating each candidate’s victory into another victory for the Second Amendment in California.

In California’s Congressional races, Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-CA 1) and Congressman Tom McClintock (R-CA 4) won their races, as did House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R- CA 23) and Congressman Devin Nunes (R-CA 22).

In races for the California State Senate, State Senator Brian Dahle (R) won his race in Senate District 1.

In State Assembly races, James Gallagher (R- AD3), Frank Bigelow (R-AD5), Jim Frazier (D-AD11), Adam Gray (D-AD21), Jim Patterson (R-AD23), Joaquin Arambula (D-AD31), Vince Fong (R-AD34), Suzette Valladares (R-AD38), and Laurie Davies (R-AD73) have already been declared the winners in their respective races.

In a local race that drew national attention, former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz was elected to the Huntington Beach City Council. Ortiz ran on the campaign slogan “Make Huntington Beach Safe Again.”

“Each win for pro-Second Amendment candidates represents another victory for the Second Amendment in California,” said Chuck Michel, President of the California Rifle & Pistol Association. “While we’re fighting against outrageous laws in Sacramento and Washington, DC that hurt law-abiding gun owners, it’s a great feeling knowing these officials have our members’ backs.”

Mirroring the national situation, there are still dozens of races that are too close to call in California. However, it is vital that every legal vote is counted, and CRPA is monitoring each of these races closely.

“When CRPA and its tens of thousands of members fight together, the Second Amendment is strengthened every day,” said Michel. “We fight for our rights everywhere we have to fight, whether in the ballot box, in Sacramento, or in court – and we produce results.”
