Stop AB 424!

May 8, 2017

AB 424, which will strip your local school superintendent or those with the equivalent authority of their right to give written authorization for an individual to possess a firearm within a school zone, could be coming up for a vote any day now in the Assembly. It is urgent that you contact your Assemblymember today and tell them to oppose this attack on parents, teachers, and other school officials from protecting themselves, their families, and the school at-large.

In addition to adding more obstacles for law-abiding Californians to carry on campus, we could also potentially see the complete elimination of after-school programs such as JROTC and Hunter Education classes. These groups, of course, rely heavily on using firearms to teach responsibility and respect.  If these groups are unable to do this, the next generation will be severely harmed. We cannot allow for this to happen.

AB 424 is not the first attempt by anti-freedom politicians in Sacramento to make schools less safe and harm the future leaders of our great state. SB 707, which originally gave power to school superintendents to decide whether or not individuals could lawfully carry on campus, passed in 2015.

Since then, CRPA has been hard at work convincing school superintendents or those with equivalent authority to allow on-campus carry. This endeavor has seen success in areas such as Kern County where the Kern High School District decided to allow on-campus carry last year. Unfortunately, if AB 424 passes, this and other successes of CRPA will be undone.

To help keep this from happening, take action today by contacting your Assemblymember! You can find your Assembly member by clicking here.

Thank you for fighting with CRPA to preserve and expand your Second Amendment rights in California.
