1st ANNUAL BARRETT LAKE YOUTH WATERFOWL HUNT

Please consider this an invitation for any eligible youth hunters to participate in the no-cost 1st Annual Barrett Lake Youth Waterfowl Hunt sponsored by the California Waterfowl Association, the San Diego Chapter of the Safari Club, the San Diego County Wildlife Federation, the California Back Country Hunters & Anglers Association and the South Bay Rod & Gun Club. To be considered, email David Blackston at davidb@dawhitacre.com. Eligible participants will be selected in the order that they respond.
There are 18 total blinds on the lake and it will be one Youth hunter per blind. Eligible youth hunters need to be ages 10-17 at the time of the hunt. Each hunt party will consist of the Youth hunter, their guardian and an experienced guide / mentor. The guide/mentor will provide local knowledge of the lake and operate the boat. The Youth hunter is the only one allowed to shoot. If you have experience hunting waterfowl at Barrett Lake and are bringing a youth hunter, you may be both the guide / mentor and Guardian.
To be eligible, the Youth hunter will need and be responsible for obtaining:
- Valid CA hunting license.
- CA duck validation, unless they are hunting under the authority of a Junior Hunting License.
- Federal duck stamp, unless they are under 16 yrs (at the time of the hunt).
- HIP validation (no cost).
- Provide their own shotgun. Ammo provided will be 2 ¾” 12ga and 3” 20ga. No full chokes.
Free to each youth hunter will be:
- Camo baseball cap
- 2 duck calls with lanyard
- Waterfowl Identification Field Guide.
- 1 year Sprig membership to the California Waterfowl Association
