DOJ Targets CCW’s & Gun Shows

November 25, 2025

Gun control advocates (and the lawmakers that support them) leave no stone unturned in pushing their agenda. They pass new laws like SB 2 to implement “sensitive places” and, as usual, CRPA and our allies immediately challenge it.

What is often overlooked, however, is that quite often legislation like SB 2 also initiates regulatory rulemaking processes that are just as impactful. We all know the “devil is in the details” and that certainly applies when the California Department of Justice starts making new rules.

In the latest installment of CRPA TV, host Kevin Small welcomes attorney Matt Cubeiro to discuss the ongoing DOJ rulemaking process related to CCW instructor certification, as well as new rulemaking related to gun shows. The motives behind various proposed rules can be hard to discern, but we know the State of California rarely acts to help lawful gun owners. WATCH CRPA TV NOW!

While CRPA continues our CCW Reckoning project, our legal challenge to SB 2, and our efforts to repeal the state’s gun show bans, we must stay vigilant on every front because the State constantly tries to make the law a moving target.
