Update: SetterArms

Daly City Caves Into Anti-Gun Hysteria, Denies SetterArms Business License Without Cause

On Monday, September 14, 2015, the City Council of Daly City held a public hearing on an application by Todd Settergren of Setterarms to establish the city’s only firearm repair shop.  Despite unanimous support of the Daly City Planning Commission and support of the local Police Department, the City Council on Monday voted 3-2 to deny Mr. Settergren’s application.

As we previously reported, the NRA and CRPA submitted a letter in support of Mr. Settergren’s application.  But instead of listening to reason and logic, Mayor Buenaventura, Vice Mayor Torres, and Council Member Canepa bowed to the political pressure brought on by the gun ban lobby.  Only Council Members Christensen and Guingona were able to see through the misinformation being presented and voted to support Mr. Settergren.

This is not the end of Mr. Settergren’s fight.  With the 2016 election fast approaching, voting members who reside in Daly City should be aware that Vice Mayor Torres and Council Member Canepa will be up for re-election next year.  All voting members who reside in Daly City are encouraged to remember the anti-gun-owner bias of these two City Council members when they are asking for your vote next year.

The NRA and CRPA are continuing to monitor the situation in Daly City and will continue to support SetterArms.  Litigation is likely.

In the meantime, members are encouraged to contact the City Council to voice their disapproval of its decision denying Mr. Settergren’s application.  You can contact the City Council using the following information:
