ParticipantWhat’s the deal with the Glock ban bill? I saw some videos on it where they passed it in a committee. What’s the next step for this bill? Wondering if we can get an email/call campaign to stop this one.

KeymasterEvan – As I stated in another part of the forum. A bill passing out of a particular committee is not law. The saber rattling for clicks on their respective sites does little to help us win these fights and a whole lot to breed apathy. Our weekly reports keep you updated, and our video feeds are accurate and timely.

ParticipantGood evening!
I remember we previously talked about form letters with a particular message about a bill that everyone can use and fill in their names and zip codes to send to their local representatives, and I was wondering if we have one for opposing AB 1127? If so, can someone please send that to me via email so I can get it out to my chapter.

KeymasterAll – The form letters are done through our program of quorum alerts that we discussed on the last call. We are making this bill the topic of our May 19th meeting. The bill will not be heard until after that date as it moves to the Senate.

ParticipantHey everyone, I hope you are all having a great day!
I wanted let you all know what the San Fernando Valley Chapter has been up to recently. We have our own website, and we just updated it with a couple of things. Firstly, I conducted an interview with Oscar Martinez, a Republican candidate running for Los Angeles County Sheriff. We recorded the interview, and the link to it is now on our website. I also had the opportunity a couple of weeks ago to be on AM 870 The Answer with David Hernandez of the Los Angeles Hispanic Republican Club to talk about legislation alongside Sam Paredes of Gun Owners of California. The link to the radio show is also on our website. Additionally, we added a gallery of images to showcase our chapter activities and events.
Here is the link to our chapter website – https://crpasfv.com/
Let us know what you think!

ParticipantHere is a case from the central coast. this is a member of CRPA that I know personally. I’m so glad to see that he won this case. It doesn’t hurt that he is an Attorney! https://lawnews.tv/judgment-entered-against-city-and-2-police-chiefs-in-duringer-v-morro-bay-2a-victory/?mc_cid=8f2d58b877&mc_eid=96181f1bd6

KeymasterRoy,
This is a win for the plaintiff but not the community as he won a settlement. Settlements don’t change the law for the rest of us as it isolates the outcome to the party involved. I am happy he got satisfaction, but I do not want our community to think the issue with this agency and others like it are solved by this action.

ParticipantWhat you said is true but I still believe it is a win for the 2A community as a whole. If you read it David Duringer attorney at law brought up many very astute constitutional issues in his defense that brought about the settlement. You can bet the government officials involved were aware that they would most likely lose in the long run and it would cost them alot more than a settlement. I think that is what we are all missing here in the LEG. COMMITTEE the points of CONSTITUTIONALITY. It’s what will ultimately win when many of these case are challenged at the SCOTUS. I spend countless hours here reading these bills and many times I’m still trying to figure out the constitutionality of it, thats the end game as I see it. thanks for the response. Roy

KeymasterALL,
Anytime we get a win in the court for a member of our community it is a good thing (I agree Roy).
On the subject of Constitutionality that is ALWAYS our starting point and is often missed by many when the opposition attacks a fringe 2A issue in the minds of the majority of our community (hunting as an example).
As for SCOTUS – we must remember that SCOTUS looks for nuances and votes and often doesn’t take a case in any area of the law due to not having the votes on the court to set things right.
We will be discussing this briefly on the 19th.

ParticipantGood morning!
I was wondering if there was any movement in the Junior Sports Magazine v. Bonta case?
