California has some of the most confusing and complicated firearms laws in the nation. And now more laws are on the way!!!

An attorney from the law firm of Michel & Associates, P.C. is working with MV Tactical & Firearms Training, Inc. to present “Gun Law for Gun Owners,” which will be hosted by the California Rifle & Pistol Association in Fullerton, California on February 10th, 2018

This eight-hour seminar will combine the expertise of attorney Joseph Silvoso (criminal defense and firearms law attorney/lecturer) and trainer Brian Fitzpatrick (retired police sergeant, training officer, and tactical firearms instructor). The combination of these teaching talents will create a unique learning experience for attendees. Admission for this one-of-a-kind class is $135.00.

Participants will learn about current and pending state and federal firearm laws and will receive a copy of C.D. Michel’s book, California Gun Laws: A Guide to State and Federal Firearm Regulations 5th Edition, a $29.95 value. Attendees will also be taught how they—as lawful gun owners—should react and behave when questioned by police, with suggestions offered from the perspective of both Mr. Silvoso, a criminal defense attorney, and Mr. Fitzpatrick, a retired police officer. Lessons will include analysis of actual encounters with police, and a discussion of the practical applications of California’s confusing and ever-expanding firearm laws and how these laws play out in California courts. Proposition 63 and the July 1, 2016 firearm bills will also be discussed. Participants will have an opportunity to have their questions addressed personally by Mr. Silvoso during and after the lecture.

For attorneys attending the class: the firearm law portion that makes up the first three hours, taught by Mr. Silvoso, will be available for CLE credit. An additional fee of $75 dollars (for a total cost of $210.00) will be required for attorneys who want to receive a total of 3 hours of CLE credit. Attorneys are not required to attend the rest of the course after the CLE portion to obtain the full three hours of CLE credit, although they are welcome to attend the entire day’s class.

Attorney Joseph Silvoso: Mr. Silvoso practices firearms law and criminal defense for the law firm of Michel & Associates, P.C., in Long Beach. Mr. Silvoso has represented clients charged with state and federal firearms related crimes including, but not limited to, possession of “assault weapons,” carrying firearms concealed/loaded, brandishing, possession of illegal weapons, and prohibited persons in possession of firearms. He is a contributor and co-author on C.D. Michel’s “California Gun Laws.” Mr. Silvoso has counseled thousands of individuals concerning state and federal firearms laws, and has represented individuals in proceedings with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the California Department of Justice. He is a frequent guest on the “Firing Line Radio Show” hosted by Phillip Naman and lecturer on California firearm issues.

Sergeant Brian Fitzpatrick (Ret.): Mr. Fitzpatrick is an honorably retired police sergeant with thirty-four years of service as a member of a local Los Angeles County law enforcement agency. Brian has served as a patrol officer and supervisor, K-9 handler and unit coordinator, training officer, firearms and tactical instructor, felony surveillance team member, and detective supervisor. The only two-time recipient of his department’s Medal of Valor, Brian has participated in and investigated all levels of uses-of-force, and has consequently been involved in related litigation. Brian holds instructor level certifications from the NRA Law Enforcement Division and California POST. He is the owner and founding instructor of MV Tactical & Firearms Training, Inc.
