Competitive Shooting

Competitive shooting is a historical marksmanship sport based on precision and focus, and is enjoyed by people of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of experience.  Today, more women, youth and minority athletes are participating in the sport in a variety of disciplines.  Being largely a mental game, it is one of the few sports that women and junior athletes compete with male athletes on a truly equal basis.

Holding a decades-long tradition of facilitating and sanctioning competitive and recreational matches, the California Rifle & Pistol Association, Incorporated (CRPA) works with ranges, clubs and other organizations throughout the state to increase local opportunities that get more people out having fun and pulling triggers, and sponsors CRPA competitive state championship matches and shooting teams to compete in national championships, such as National Rifle Association (NRA), the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), and other relevant national championships.

These events provide a forum to teach members and the public about firearms, gun law politics, and how they can have fun and participate in the shooting sports.
