Legislative Alert- AB 2847- Safe Firearm Bill Headed to Senate Appropriations Next Week

August 7, 2020

AB 2847 has passed out of Committee and is on its way to the Senate Appropriations Committee next week!

August 7, 2020-This is the bill that seeks to force manufacturers to add microstamping technology to firearms sold in California (something no manufacture has been able to do thus far) and then punishes manufacturers by removing three firearms for every one added to the California Safe Handgun List. It makes no sense for politicians to remove a gun from a list that they have already deemed “safe” for sale in California just because another one is added. It makes no sense that is unless your desired purpose is to limit law abiding citizens from exercising their rights.

We are already preparing for litigation on this bill because it is an arbitrary and nonsensical attempt by politicians to limit citizens from purchasing lawful firearms and it is a direct infringement on your Constitutional rights.

We hope that we will not have to file litigation on this and that is where we need your help! Your calls have already helped us to defeat a camp bill that would have destroyed many outdoor adventure camps in California and would have prevented kids from learning how to shoot rifles and archery at those camps.

Now we need our members again. Please take a few moments to reach out to the Senate Appropriations Committee and tell them to VOTE NO on AB 2847.

You can reach the Committee at  (916) 651-4101. The Committee hearing will be on Thursday, August 13th and can be accessed here.

Thank you for your continued support during this legislative session. It truly makes a difference to have the voices of our members heard in a mighty way in Sacramento.
