Good afternoon Rick,

I just heard that the DOJ will officially be increasing the fee for the Standard Ammunition Eligibility Check to $5.00, and it will become effective July 1st. I also found out how SB 135 from the 2023-2024 legislative session gave the Attorney General the power to increase the fee. Considering that the bill proposal I put forth, the DES Ammunition Reform Act, mentions fixing the fee at $1.00, I believe it would be worthwhile to also add a section explicitly removing that power given by SB 135. This way, it is crystal clear that if the ammunition background checks are to stay for now, pending Rhode v. Bonta of course, we will not tolerate extra attempts by the Attorney General to make it more difficult to purchase ammunition.
