General Summary of Information Regarding Recent Changes to California Firearm Laws

  1. CRPA has never answered the question to my satisfaction as to whether or not an AR-15 will still require registration prior to July 1, 2018, IF (1) the rifle has had the bullet-button removed and (2) has been equipped with an ARMagLock or similar device that supposedly classifies the rifle as having a “fixed magazine”, (while still leaving the rifle with pistol grip, thumbhole stock, flash suppressor, etc. that were part of the original features list when the rifle was purchased new).

So…..will the resulting modifications I just listed above render the rifle immune from registration by July 1, 2018? If so, shouldn’t I be able to use the rifle for varmint hunting in California without fear of arrest, imprisonment, fine, etc., or should I just cave in and sell the rifle without the modifications in Nevada or Arizona? Frankly, I’m tired of the hassle.

I have never been arrested, never charged with any crime, never received anything except a few traffic tickets, and am a life member of the NRA and CRPA member, yet the California State Legislature still wants to treat me as a potential criminal, even though I’m 80 years old.

    Thanks,
