Today, the Assembly passed SB 620. SB 620 (Bradford) aims to reduce the punishment for criminals who use firearms while committing a crime. If signed by the governor, SB 620 will allow a court to dismiss the additional prison time currently mandated for gun crimes. This is an insult to all law-abiding California gun owners; while the legislature sees fit to burden legal firearms owners with increasingly strict regulations in the name of “reducing crime”, they are attempting to make life easier for the criminals who actually use firearms to commit violence!
Despite passing, some assembly members did vote to enforce the current penalties for legitimate gun criminals. Assembly Members, Melendez, Lackey, and Mathis, had the courage to speak out against SB 620.
The hypocrisy of SB 620 cannot go unanswered. The CRPA is doing everything we can to fight this outrageous bill, but we need your help. Donate today to help keep up the fight against unfair and unconstitutional gun laws. This bill is on its way to the governor’s desk. Please contact Governor Brown and urge him to veto SB 620!
